Challenging and rewarding print opportunities come our way on a daily basis, but recently we at AlphaGraphics were blessed with the opportunity to work on a project that truly touched our hearts. It all began with a phone call from Kiri Roeseler, a mom, volunteer and business person looking for information on printing a calendar for a fundraiser. She had little print experience and wasn’t sure where to start, so we set an appointment for her (and her adorable boys) to come by and look at samples and talk about her project. It turned out that her fundraiser was for a calendar to raise money and promote awareness for cystic fibrosis, a genetic disorder which both of her children have been diagnosed with. A talented photographer had already volunteered to photograph the children and teens who would be featured on each month of the calendar and it didn’t take me long to decide I would like Alphagraphics to donate the design services that would be needed to pull the project together, a project that our designer, Josh Stratton, enthusiastically tackled. Kiri was a joy to work with; I enjoyed her positive outlook and her “ let’s make it happen” attitude. By print time, she had quadrupled the number of calendars she needed and is fielding calls from people wanting to be a part of next years' calendar.
Paging through the completed calendar for the first time and reading the stories of these courageous children and their families, made me extremely grateful for the opportunity that Kiri presented to us that first day she walked into our shop. She is truly an inspiration and I look forward to working with her on future projects.
