In keeping with our commitment to sustainable business practices, AlphaGraphics Portland participated in a 5 week discussion course on "Sustainable Systems at Work," developed by Portland's Northwest Earth Institute and now taught all over the world. The discussion group was organized by The Collins Companies, the first privately-owned forest products business in the US to be certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
The purpose of the course is to create a framework to help employees engage in the sustainability discussion in the workplace. Becoming FSC certified is just one of the steps AlphaGraphics Portland has already taken. Other things our employees do to minimize our environmental impact are use washable ceramic plates and silverware in the break area; sort and
recycle garbage; upcycle excess paper to schools, charities and non-profits; raise chickens; carpool to work, ride Trimet, walk and bike to work. Plus, our store location is in Portland's premier LEED certified building, 200 SW Market Street.
