Keys To Effective Trade Show Marketing

Keys To Effective Trade Show Marketing

Trade shows can be nerve-racking - especially when you are planning out the marketing for your upcoming exhibit. The waiting. The wondering. Is anyone interested? Why aren’t they stopping here? Am I not good enough? Of course you’re good enough. You just need to be more effective. If you’re wondering how to do that, then you’ve come to the right place.

Here you will find keys to effectiveness - what you may be missing or what you could do better. Maybe you’ll find things you shouldn’t be doing at all!

Top Keys For Effective Trade Show Marketing

Trade Show Displays

Display is key. It’s the thing they’re here for. It’s the thing you’re here for. So it has to look good, right?

Whether it’s big or small, everyone has a display. Creative creatures always keep their most intricate work front and center at a Craft Show. The tastiest fruits, the biggest vegetables, and the best knick knacks are always on the front table at the Farmer’s Market.

Why do they do this? Because they know it’s what the people want. People aren’t drawn to a smiley face drawing. They don’t go to stalls because of beets in a can. No.

People are drawn to the colorful dream catchers and the biggest, brightest watermelons.

Do you see what I’m saying? Keep your best material front and center. Use it to draw people in. If they see what they want – half your job is done. And if they’re going to walk away with something they want, you may just be able to show them something else you think they should have.

Now don’t forget one important aspect: LABELS!

People need to know what they’re looking at.

No one goes back for that thing from a few stalls ago.

The Giveaways With Exhibit Design & Marketing

Offer something. It’s really that simple.

A popcorn company isn’t going to send you home with a barrel full of Caramel Corn. But they leave out a bowl for you to take a few.

Don’t give it all away at once. Be coy. Give the people something they like – something they can use. Preferably, give them something with your name or logo on it. If they have, they see it, and they can put it to use, then the flash drive you gave away for free on Monday turns into a sale on Thursday.

The Takeaways With Your Next Trade Show

Not everyone can offer a popcorn ball or a flash drive. A window company can’t let customers walk home with shards of glass in their hands. BUT they can give them brochures and pamphlets.

Though not as attractive as a goodie bag, a brochure lets the customer know what you’re all about. It let’s people know the offer, the services, and most importantly (on most occasions) the price.

Are you more likely to call a company you know nothing about or a company that has put everything you need to know right in your hand? All you need to do is call. Eliminate the nervousness and confusion of a first-time interaction over the phone.

You like it and the customer does too.

Now, you can make it attractive.

Give your pamphlet/brochure a personal touch with the colors of your logo, and remember: every color has a place in our brain. Find the color that you want people to relate to you. Exciting red? Playful orange? What about a calming blue?

It is important to note that an over (or under) whelming brochure does little to nothing. You can’t have words and numbers scattered across the page. It has to make sense. It has to be organized. It has to give the information they need to know.

Humans aren’t stupid. We just like things easy.

Bringing Your Business Into Your Trade Show

You’re probably the most important part of your display. Stay cheery. And stay welcoming. Know what you sell. Knowing makes it that much easier. People always trust someone that knows what they’re talking about… and can admit when they don’t.

The key to all YOU is: keeping the confidence. Everyone gets down on themselves, especially when people just walk on by. But rejection is a part of the game. Everyone that’s gotten anywhere has been rejected more than a time or two.

Ring was turned away in front of a national audience on Shark Tank. Now it’s an Amazon hallmark.

So stay confident and cheery. And don’t forget what you know. Once you pull a person in, you give them reason to stay.

Conclusion: Keys To Effective Trade Show Marketing

I can give you every tip in the book, but the best way to learn more is to put these tips to good use – then learn by doing. But let this be your base. These tips – these simple things -  can make you more effective than you realize.

Sometimes all it takes is a well placed display, a bowl of chocolate bars, and a clear, colorful pamphlet to bring someone in.

But never forget: the most important thing you can bring to any trades how is knowledge, confidence, and a smile on your face.
