When
building a website many companies forget to focus on their story. Companies seem to overlook the importance of creating a voice and relating that voice to their community. It is very important that the character of the company and the ideals, and the WHO is clearly communicated on the website. When a company does this successfully they win the trust of the customer and become a business the customer wants to be associated with.
One of the most visited pages on a website is the About page. This is a great page to give your customer an inside look at the WHO of the company. When writing an About page, focus more of the story of the Owner and the Employees. How long have they been doing what they are doing? Why did they get into this line of business. How long have they been part of the community? What types of fun activities does the company do on Fridays or after work? This may seem silly, but creating a personality that connects with the consumer builds a loyal customer base.
To really take the About page to a new level have a short video for each employee (for small businesses) and have the video and a short blurb about the person. If you are unsure how to do this, ask your
graphic deisger to include this in his design, and as for a YouTube embed option. This will not only be easier for implementation, but will also give you a boost in
SEO (if done correctly) Give your customers an inside and intimate look at the WHO and reap the rewards.
