12-6 Blog – Measure Twice, Cut Once

Early in my training to become an AlphaGraphics owner, my coach emphasized the importance of this phrase in our business. It makes sense to ensure that we measure and double-checked the dimensions of the printed product or sign. That way we have the best shot at getting the right finished size after we send the item through one of our cutters.
It turns out this principle applies to other elements of this business. For instance, we recently printed a piece for a Client without getting the Client’s clear green light to do so. However, we did not check that we had the final approval. As a result, we had to reprint the item after the Client objected to an element of the design we had created.
The challenge, of course, is constant. We must address both the need for care and attention to detail with the often-equal need for speed. Clients frequently require a printed item or sign quickly, and still rightfully require their items to be done correctly. While speed vs accuracy are habitually pitted against each other, my Centers strive for efficiency as a means of achieving the best balance for our Clients.
